A New Easter Hunt

This Easter find us in strange, new territory with the COVID-19 pandemic. We are staying more than six feet from others, staying at home, and not gathering in groups of more than ten. Easter celebrations will look different than they ever have before. How can we point our families and our communities to the cross and the resurrection this Easter when we can’t even come in contact with them or even invite them to church?

Be creative! Find ways to celebrate the HOPE that we have in Jesus. Don’t keep hope to yourself! Think of what you would normally do to celebrate Easter and replace or modify those traditions with creative ways to celebrate. Don’t let these circumstances steal your joy and your opportunity to reach others.

Here is what our family is doing this week. I’ll share it with you in case you want to do it as well! Instead of a neighborhood Easter egg hunt, we are doing a cross hunt. Our children will make and paint a dozen crosses, then we will be sneaky and hide the crosses around our neighborhood. Then we will deliver flyers to the neighbors encouraging them to go hunt for crosses and mark them off as they find them. The flyer also includes a short explanation of why the cross is so important.

You are welcome to use these flyers. I will include them below. Let me know how you are celebrating Easter this year!

You are so creative. I am sure this will be very encouraging to your neighborhood. Bless all your family during this difficult time we are going through right now. Stay safe. Love you all.

You are amazing! I wish that I would have done this! The empty nest is so lonesome — especially during this time of quarantine!
